TENDER DESCRIPTION

The current planning area lies in this tension field between a historically reconstructed layout of the square and additions shaped by functional requirements. The conversion of the Semperoper and its surroundings is thus set in the context of a sensitive further development of a high-ranking cultural site, in which both heritage conservation requirements and operational requirements must be taken into account. The project includes planning, construction of a new building and later repurposing of the new building, which initially serves as an interim solution for outsourced functions of the Semperoper and is subsequently operated permanently as the Semperoper Ballet Centre. The background is the necessary comprehensive refurbishment of the listed function building of the Semperoper, the structural condition of which requires extensive renovation. During this renovation phase of around two years, usable floor space must be relocated; the new building is intended to serve as the interim site.
