TENDER DESCRIPTION

According to the provisions of § 23 para. 1 sentence 2 of the Funeral Act of Rhineland-Palatinate (BestG), burial and cremation must take place within 14 days after death is established. According to the principle of proportionality, cremation is to be carried out preferentially within this period for hazard prevention, which must be arranged by the competent public order authority if the specified deadline is not met. In individual cases, burials are carried out, especially for religious reasons. Since the City of Trier does not employ its own trained specialists to conduct funerals, it uses the services of third parties (= funeral companies). The following tender aims to conclude a contract effective from 01.12.2026 between the City of Trier, represented by the Lord Mayor, who is represented by the Department Head for Citizens’ Services, City Center and Law, who is represented by the Public Order Office (= client, hereinafter AG), and a funeral company or a consortium of funeral companies (= contractor, hereinafter AN) for the conduct of funerals for a period of four years.
