TENDER DESCRIPTION

According to the provisions of § 23 para. 1 sentence 2 of the Burial Act of Rhineland-Palatinate (BestG), burial and cremation must take place within 14 days after the determination of death. According to the principle of proportionality, cremation within this period to avert danger is to be given priority, which must be arranged by the competent public order authority if this deadline is not met. In individual cases, burials are carried out, especially for religious reasons. Since the city of Trier does not employ its own trained specialists to conduct funerals, it uses the services of third parties (= funeral companies). The following tender aims to conclude a contract effective from 01/12/2026 between the city of Trier, represented by the mayor, who is represented by the department head for citizen services, inner city and law, who is represented by the Public Order Office (= client, hereinafter AG) and a funeral company or a bidding consortium of funeral companies (= contractor, hereinafter AN) for the conduct of funerals for a period of four years.
