    TENDER DESCRIPTION

State of the art in artificial intelligence and machine learning in medical radiation applications and current regulation (3626S22321) Artificial intelligence (AI) systems in medicine enable new approaches to personalisation and optimisation of treatment, individual dose prescriptions in nuclear medicine imaging, as well as faster and more accurate X-ray diagnostics amid increasing workload. The risks and challenges of using AI include, among other things, the heterogeneity or lack of training data, susceptibility to errors, and ethical concerns. A legal framework for the placing into service and use of AI systems is defined by the EU AI Act (2024). In addition, in recent years numerous regulatory requirements have been published that (partly) find application in medicine, as well as recommendations from international and national professional associations. In the research project, the state of the art is to be worked up: to identify current use of AI in medicine and the latest developments. The legal and subordinate regulatory framework in Germany and the EU is to be worked up and compared with the status of regulation in other countries.
