    TENDER DESCRIPTION

Numerical 3D simulations of lithosphere properties form the basis for estimating the mechanical, thermal, and hydraulic state of the deeper subsurface (e.g., when investigating storage structures for CO2). Based on these simulations, the stress state in the subsurface of the German North Sea can be derived. The insights gained can be used to assess the reactivation potential of faults or their new formation through CO₂ injection in the German North Sea, thereby better determining the formation of possible leakage pathways. This is highly relevant in the context of the Carbon Dioxide Storage Act (KSpTG). The results of such simulations also serve to predict the existing pressure state in the subsurface and to define appropriate injection strategies for CO2. Primarily, the stress and pressure conditions of the uppermost kilometers of the upper crust should be quantified with high accuracy. However, consistent model assumptions should also be made for the deeper crustal and upper mantle areas and incorporated into the simulations, as deformations in these areas can also directly affect near-surface regions. Thus, the entire lithosphere (and, if applicable, the upper asthenosphere)…
