TENDER DESCRIPTION

General: At the top edge of the Ilm embankment to the east of the City Palace (Stadtschloss) there is a wrought-iron railing that has been located there since the end of the 19th century (Jhd.). It consists of rectangular posts, top and bottom rails, as well as curved and circular infill panels. The posts are fastened to travertine plinths/foundations. The railing is to be dismantled on site, refurbished in the contractor’s workshop (AN), and reinstalled again at the top edge of the embankment. Several railing sections are missing and must be replaced. The travertine plinths/foundations are to be preserved as far as possible. Plinths/foundations that cannot be preserved are to be newly manufactured. The travertine plinth, including the recess, is manufactured separately by a stone mason and this trade is provided on site for this scope of work. The underlying concrete foundation is to be produced within the scope of this trade. Experience in the restoration and maintenance/repair of historical metalwork and blacksmithing work is required.
