Overview of project A 44 Ratingen - Velbert in section A 3 - L 156 The project "A 44 Ratingen - Velbert in section A 3 - L 156" comprises the construction of a new section of the A 44 motorway. The section of the A 44 approved by planning permission and relevant for the construction task begins west of the Ratingen-Ost motorway interchange (A 3 / A 44) at construction km 13+130.000 (south side) and 13+640.000 (north side) and ends approximately at construction km 19+500 in the area of the Heiligenhaus junction (A 44 / B 227). The new section connects the western part of the A 44, including the Düsseldorf airport and trade fair connection, with the existing eastern part of the A 44, the so-called northern bypass of Velbert. The motorway triangle (AD) Ratingen-Ost located within the section will be converted into a motorway interchange (AK). The Heiligenhaus junction (AS), which was partially constructed and temporarily put into operation for the already completed eastern section of the A 44, is to be fully completed as a junction.
