TENDER DESCRIPTION
The medicine is needed for the treatment of patients with Pompe disease who have low levels of an enzyme called alpha glucosidase, which helps the body regulate glycogen levels. Glycogen provides energy to the body, but in Pompe disease glycogen levels may increase too much. The medicine contains a synthetic enzyme (active substance) called alpha-alglucosidase — it can replace the natural enzyme that is lacking in Pompe disease.
