TENDER DESCRIPTION

The construction of the new Visitors’ and Information Centre of the German Bundestag (BIZ) at the Reichstag building (RTG) is intended to enable adequate visitor care and, at the same time, improve the information offerings for visitors to the Reichstag building. It replaces the security container facility located to the west of the RTG, which was erected on a provisional basis due to increased security requirements. The BIZ is located south of Scheidemannstraße and is connected to the RTG by a connecting structure that lies under Scheidemannstraße. At the same time as the BIZ, an Underground Cooling Plant (UKZ) for supplying cooling to the RTG will be constructed below the Platz der Republik. As part of the site clearance, the following measures in particular are to be carried out: installation of the flag system (a total of four units, including the “Flag of Unity”) and foundation dismantling work, installation of the monument “for the 96 murdered members of the Reichstag”, rerouting of existing services, and removal of the existing paving.
