TENDER DESCRIPTION

AWA Entsorgung GmbH (AWA) is a municipal waste management company and ensures waste disposal security for approximately 820,000 citizens. AWA’s primary task is to implement the waste management concept of the Zweckverband Entsorgungsregion West (ZEW) for the Städteregion Aachen and the Kreis Düren. For this purpose, it operates four waste disposal centres, a composting plant with a digestion stage, a hazardous substance collection point, the waste incineration plant Weisweiler for 50% as well as a mobile hazardous substance collection service in the Städteregion Aachen and the Kreis Düren. AWA intends to extend the Würselen biowaste digestion plant by adding plug-flow fermentation with intensive aerated composting at the site Am Weiweg 40 in 52146 Würselen. So far, approximately 30,000 t of biowaste are processed at the site per year. Up to approximately 70,000 t of biowaste are available annually within the association area of the Zweckverband Entsorgungsregion West (ZEW).
