The assessment of longitudinal evenness has required the determination of the true longitudinal profile since the introduction of the Technical Test Specifications for the contactless measurement of pavement surfaces [1,2]. So far, only the High-Speed Monitoring (HRM) method is suitable for measuring the true longitudinal profile. Comparable methods used, for example, in other countries, such as an inertial profilometer (distance measurement combined with an acceleration sensor), are currently not approved. However, the HRM method in its current form is not suitable for deviating surface structures, such as grinding textures. Due to material removal, ground surfaces exhibit a longitudinally oriented alternating rib-groove pattern, which can cause minor local deviations of multiply scanned points to lead to significant deviations in the relative height measurements of the laser sensors. In addition, even small angles between the longitudinal structures and the driving direction of the measuring vehicle lead to the imprint of an artificial unevenness.
