The German National Library has a statutory mandate to collect its holdings both physically and digitally and to make them available to the general public. To fulfil the associated tasks and objectives as efficiently and purposefully as possible, an enterprise architecture is required that is optimally aligned to business capabilities. The diversity and scope of the tasks necessitate a comprehensive and complex business, information, and technology architecture. To make strategic decisions on a well-founded basis, the German National Library requires an IT system for the management, maintenance and flexible evaluation of the data underlying the enterprise architecture.
