TENDER DESCRIPTION

The object is the Rotationsgebäude (Rotational Building) of RWTH Aachen, Building 4242, component 24B, at Sommerfeldstraße 18, 52074 Aachen. The building was constructed in 1976 and is used as an RWTH Aachen university building for research, teaching, and work areas. In the basement level of the building, there are electrical operating and supply areas with existing switchgear and switch cabinets for supplying the building services systems. As part of the project “Instandsetzung Schaltanlagen Lüftung” (Restoration of switchgear for ventilation), the work and processing, i.e. renewal/adaptation of the electrical equipment in the area of the cellar rooms, is to be carried out. The measure affects the existing switch cabinets of the ventilation system and the associated electrical infrastructure in the basement level of the building. The need for refurbishment was already identified in 2006 and has been included in RWTH’s maintenance plan since 2021. Despite partial measures already implemented by RWTH, the load-carrying area is still located in the old switch cabinets.
