TENDER DESCRIPTION

The Chamber of Crafts for Upper Franconia (Handwerkskammer für Oberfranken) located in Bayreuth is planning the construction of an education center at the site in Bamberg. The building plot available for redevelopment consists of the parcels with plot numbers 4406/14, 4450/2, 4450/1, and partly 4408. The new build for the Bamberg education center is intended to create a sustainable, identity-forming ensemble that serves as an anchor function in the quarter and forms the eastern end of the prospective urban development to the south of Forchheimer Straße with service and education uses. According to the characteristics of a craft-oriented education center, the plot is zoned into building-field clusters in which extension areas are also considered. Internal and external circulation links network the clusters and create open areas appropriate to the intended use. The orthogonal zoning is oriented to the southern access road, as this is also how connections to the expected development in the west are established.
