General construction description The Chamber of Skilled Crafts for Upper Franconia (Handwerkskammer für Oberfranken) headquartered in Bayreuth plans to build an education centre at the site in Bamberg. The building plot (construction site area) available for the redevelopment comprises the plots with the parcel numbers 4406/14, 4450/2, 4450/1, and partly 4408. The new building for the Bamberg education centre is intended to create a sustainable, identity-forming ensemble that performs an anchoring function in the quarter and, as the eastern end of the forward-looking urban development south of Forchheimer Straße, forms an area with service and education uses. In keeping with the character of a craft-oriented education centre, the site is zoned into construction site area clusters in which extension areas are also taken into account. Internal and external access routes connect the clusters and create open spaces appropriate to the intended use. The orthogonal zoning is oriented towards the southern access road, as this also establishes links to the expected development in the west.
