TENDER DESCRIPTION
This contract is for the design and supply of two flood barriers with a span of 14 metres, intended to allow the Haut-Escaut locks to be drained (dewatered) dry. These locks belong to the Walloon Region (sites of Kain and Hérinnes). The existing works, built in the 1920s, are sized to accommodate inland waterway traffic of class Va at most. The two locks have a similar design; the flood barriers must therefore be compatible with both structures. For information purposes, their design is also similar to those of the locks of Berchem, Audenarde and Asper located in Flanders. The calculated water head heights to be considered for sizing the metal structures are also comparable between the different sites. A flood barrier may be made up of several distinct elements, assembled together using watertight joints. The total height of a flood barrier is set at 6 metres. The flood barriers must be sized in accordance with the regulations in force, and in particular the Eurocodes. Particular attention will be paid to the number of joints in the flood barrier, which are just as many weak points for watertightness, as well as to the unit weight of the elements that make up the flood barrier,…
