TENDER DESCRIPTION

This contract covers the design and supply of two floodgates with a span of 14 metres, intended to allow the Upper Scheldt locks to be drained (belonging to the Walloon Region (sites of Kain and Hérinnes)). The existing works, built in the 1920s, are sized to accommodate inland waterway traffic of class Va at most. The two locks have a similar design; the floodgates must therefore be compatible with both structures. For information purposes, their design is also similar to that of the Berchem, Audenarde and Asper locks located in Flanders. The calculated water levels to be considered for sizing the metal structures are also comparable across the different sites. A floodgate may be made up of several distinct elements, assembled with watertight joints. The total height of a floodgate is fixed at 6 metres. The floodgates must be sized in accordance with the regulations in force, and in particular the Eurocodes.
