Law 7/2002 of 3 May establishing the Instituto Tecnológico Agrario de Castilla y León states in Article 2.1, literally, as its objectives, competencies and functions: The Institute shall be responsible for the objectives of the Autonomous Community of Castilla y León to promote the activity of the agricultural sector and its processing industries by encouraging technological development and energising initiatives that involve new production approaches or adaptation to the market and to its requirements for quality and competitiveness. In Article 2.2 of Law 7/2002 it sets out the competencies that in particular correspond to it, and among them, letter f) of that provision states: The promotion of agro-food products of Castilla y León without prejudice to the competencies that the competent department in matters of agriculture and agro-food matters may exercise in this same area.
