TENDER DESCRIPTION

By means of its regulatory letter, the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen) has been tasked with representing Sweden in the EU joint steering group for coordinated procurement within the framework of the Joint Procurement Agreement (JPA). The assignment includes calls-off (specific procurements) that are linked to the authority’s responsibility to ensure the supply of medicines and other healthcare products in the event of increased preparedness, as well as to maintain disaster medicine preparedness. In addition, the assignment includes the procurement of medicines through the so-called voluntary solidarity mechanism (VSM) in the EU in situations where ordinary supply channels cannot meet national needs. The Supply Preparedness Unit at Socialstyrelsen develops healthcare and care supply preparedness at a strategic level, but also the operational part of supply preparedness, for example by building up and managing emergency stockpiles. In addition, the unit plans how supplies of materiel, equipment and medicines can be delivered when needed—both within Sweden and internationally.
