TENDER DESCRIPTION
The marshalling yard Nürnberg gravity shunting yard put into operation in 1903 was modernized in the years 1983 to 1988. As part of the modernization, for technical and economic reasons the height profile of the arrival and departure group and of the direction tracks was not changed. In doing so, the existing difference in height from the arrival group to the departure group of 23.4 m had to essentially be maintained. The shunting operation runs from east to west. However, the shunting facility from the approach zone to the beginning of the direction tracks received the gradient profile proven in flat stations. The control of the shunting operation is handled at signal box Nref, which is divided into two signal box areas: the shunting signal box and the train dispatcher signal box. The train dispatcher signal box (SpDrS600) controls the entry and the approach area, while the shunting signal box (R30 technology, company Siemens) is operated by the shunting yard foreman.
