TENDER DESCRIPTION
The reason for starting the ecohydrological study are stability problems in the Kikbeek pond, which means that the increases in water level in order to achieve the conservation objectives cannot currently take place. The ecohydrological study will examine what the effects are of higher pond water levels (than the current ones) in the Kikbeek quarry on the surrounding groundwater-dependent vegetation. In addition, it will be investigated which supplementary measures for rewetting in the habitats directive area Mechelse Heide, Ziepbeekvallei, Neerharerheide and Asbeek are necessary in order to arrive at a climate-resilient system. The aim of the study is to investigate the impact on groundwater levels and the ecological boundary conditions due to increases in water level in the Kikbeek pond and due to hydrological restoration measures in the Mechelse Heide, Ziepbeek, Neerharerheide and Asbeek. This must lead to maximising the restoration and conservation of groundwater-dependent vegetation. The objective is to achieve climate-resilient system restoration without jeopardising critical infrastructure (such as the A14 motorway E314) and the long-term stability of the Berg quarry and…
