TENDER DESCRIPTION

The district of Minden-Lübbecke will renovate and carry out energy-efficient refurbishment of the visitor mining pit and museum Kleinebremen (BBMK) in order to bring the site up to the current technical standard. The “visitor mining pit and museum Kleinebremen” (BBMK) is the only authentically preserved iron ore mining operation and museum in the Westphalia region. The buildings on the site were erected between 1935 and 1938 and reflect the architecture and industrial style of that period. The mining operation itself was active until and including 1957, thereby playing a significant role in regional economy and culture. Today, visitors can not only tour the historical sites, but also learn more about the techniques and challenges of mining. The BBMK is therefore an important place for education and remembrance of mining history in Westphalia. Due to its listing in the register of historic monuments (No. 0175), all parts of the buildings are subject to ensemble monument protection, which includes both the external and internal design.
