TENDER DESCRIPTION

The district of Minden-Lübbecke will convert and carry out energy-efficient refurbishment of the visitor mine and museum Kleinenbremen (BBMK) in order to bring the property up to current technical standards. The “Visitor Mine and Museum Kleinenbremen” (BBMK) is the only authentically preserved iron ore mine and museum in the Westphalia region. The buildings on the property were constructed between 1935 and 1938 and reflect the architecture and industrial style of that time. The mining operation itself was active up to and including 1957, thereby playing an important role in the regional economy and culture. Today, visitors can not only see the historic sites, but also learn more about the techniques and challenges of mining. The BBMK is thus an important place for education and remembrance of mining history in Westphalia. Due to inclusion in the list of protected monuments (No. 0175), all building components are subject to ensemble protection, covering both the exterior and the interior design.
