    TENDER DESCRIPTION

    The district of Minden-Lübbecke will renovate and refurbish the visitors’ mining site and Kleinenbremen museum (BBMK) in an energy-efficient manner by carrying out rebuilding work in order to bring the property up to current technical standards. The “Visitors’ Mining Site and Museum Kleinenbremen” (BBMK) is the only authentically preserved iron ore mine and museum in the Westphalia region. The buildings on the property were erected between 1935 and 1938 and reflect the architecture and industrial style of that period. The mining operation itself was active up to and including 1957 and thus played a significant role in the regional economy and culture. Today, interested parties can not only visit the historic sites but also learn more about the techniques and challenges of mining. The BBMK is therefore an important place for education and remembrance of mining history in Westphalia. Due to its listing in the monument protection register (No. 0175), all parts of the buildings are subject to ensemble monument protection, which includes both the external and internal design.
