TENDER DESCRIPTION

The district of Minden-Lübbecke will convert and carry out energy-efficient renovation of the visitors’ mining site and museum Kleinenbremen (BBMK) in order to bring the facility up to the current technical standard. The “Visitors’ Mine and Museum Kleinenbremen” (BBMK) is the only authentically preserved iron ore mine and museum in the Westphalia region. The buildings on the property were built between 1935 and 1938 and reflect the architecture and the industrial style of that period. The mining operation itself was active until and including 1957, and thus played a significant role in regional economy and culture. Today, interested parties can visit not only the historic sites, but also learn more about the techniques and challenges of mining. The BBMK is therefore an important place for education and remembrance of mining history in Westphalia. Due to inclusion in the list of protected monuments (No. 0175), all building components are subject to protection as an ensemble monument, which includes both the external and internal design.
