TENDER DESCRIPTION

The district of Minden-Lübbecke will renovate and carry out an energy-efficient refurbishment of the visitor mine and museum Kleinenbremen (BBMK) in order to bring the facility up to current technical standards. The “Visitor Mine and Museum Kleinenbremen” (BBMK) is the only authentically preserved iron ore mine and museum in the Westphalia region. The buildings on the property were constructed between 1935 and 1938 and reflect the architecture and industrial style of that period. The mining operation itself was active until and including 1957, thus playing a significant role in the region’s economy and culture. Today, interested parties can not only visit the historical sites, but also learn more about the techniques and challenges of mining. The BBMK is therefore an important place for education and remembrance of the mining history in Westphalia. Due to registration in the list of protected monuments (No. 0175), all components of the buildings are subject to ensemble monument protection, which includes both the external and the internal design.
