TENDER DESCRIPTION

The District of Minden-Lübbecke will renovate and carry out energy-efficient refurbishment of the visitors’ mine and the Kleinenbremen museum (BBMK) in order to bring the property up to a current technical standard. The “Visitors’ Mine and Museum Kleinenbremen” (BBMK) is the only authentically preserved iron ore mine and museum in the Westphalia region. The buildings on the site were erected between 1935 and 1938 and reflect the architecture and the industrial style of that period. The mining operation itself was active until and including 1957, thus playing a significant role in the regional economy and culture. Today, interested parties can not only visit the historic sites, but also learn more about the techniques and challenges of mining. The BBMK is therefore an important place for education and remembrance of mining history in Westphalia. Due to its listing in the monument protection register (No. 0175), all building components are subject to ensemble monument protection, which covers both the exterior and the interior design.
