TENDER DESCRIPTION

The district of Minden-Lübbecke will renovate and energetically refurbish the Kleinenbremen Visitor Mine and Museum (BBMK) to bring the facility up to current technical standards. The "Visitor Mine and Museum Kleinenbremen" (BBMK) is the only authentically preserved iron ore mine and museum in the Westphalia region. The buildings on the site were constructed between 1935 and 1938 and reflect the architecture and industrial style of that period. The mining operation itself was active until including 1957 and thus played a significant role in the regional economy and culture. Today, visitors can not only tour the historical sites but also learn more about the techniques and challenges of mining. The BBMK is therefore an important place for education and remembrance of the mining history in Westphalia. Due to its listing in the monument protection register (No. 0175), all parts of the building are subject to ensemble monument protection, which covers both the exterior and interior design.
