TENDER DESCRIPTION
N-ERGIE Aktiengesellschaft Nürnberg supplies the city of Nuremberg with drinking water. With a daily output of around 13,000 m³, the intake areas of Krämersweiher and Ursprung contribute around 12% of Nuremberg’s drinking water demand. Since the commissioning of the Ursprung intake in 1885, the water has been conveyed via the Ursprung long-distance pipeline (FLU) over a length of around 13.6 km to the Schmausenbuck elevated reservoir. Due to the geodetic difference in height between the intake and the Schmausenbuck elevated reservoir, the water is discharged partly without the use of pumps. As pipeline material, socket pipes made of cast iron were installed with an internal diameter of 550 mm in lengths of 5 m or 6 m. The long-distance pipeline runs mostly through forest areas assigned to the Reichswald Nürnberg. Exceptions are the crossings of motorway A3 and A9. Here, tunnel structures are located beneath the motorways in which the pipelines are laid. As part of damage to pipelines in the past, defective sections of pipe were removed and replaced by new sections of pipe (e.g. steel, cemented on the inside, PE-coated on the outside).
