Ersatzneubau der Heinrich-Weitz-Brücke in Linnich - Stadt Linnich

TENDER DESCRIPTION

As part of the flood event in summer 2021, the municipality of Linnich was flooded in parts. The Rur, running through the city and the adjacent municipal area, massively overtopped its banks and caused considerable damage. The city area of Linnich was connected in the west-east connection coming from the east via Erkelenzer Straße and the L253 / Jülicher Straße through the Heinrich-Weitz Bridge. During the flood disaster, the water level of the Rur reached almost up to the underside of the steel bridge structure. Due to the large-scale flooding, the Rur carried extensive debris/raftwood, which in the end also led to impact situations on the superstructure. On the basis of the application dated 09.10.2024, the competent Water Management Authority of the Cologne District Government (Bezirksregierung Köln) granted a water-law approval for the replacement construction of the Heinrich-Weitz Bridge - No. 54.B.1-2025-0002902-U70/25.
