In order to achieve further efficiency gains in the processes, invoice processing is to be digitised. Specifically affected here are the billing processes pursuant to Section 302 of SGB V and Section 105 of SGB XI. The scope of digitisation of incoming mail relates to the invoice processes for aids, therapy services, travel costs, rehabilitation sports and functional training, midwives/birthing care, nursing care in kind, day and preventive care, consultation visits pursuant to Section 302 of SGB V and Section 105 of SGB XI. The contracting entity receives the principal’s unopened letter and parcel mail (e.g. invoices or components of invoices) in paper form. The contracting entity must carry out at its own responsibility all preparatory work required for scanning the documents. This includes, for example, opening letter envelopes and shipping materials, documenting the date of receipt of mail and, if necessary, removing staples or other materials such as adhesive tape. The documents received are to be scanned by the contracting entity and provided as a PDF document in PDF version 1.7 in the PDF/A 1 format.
