TENDER DESCRIPTION

The contract notice relates to a modernisation within the baggage handling system in Terminal 1 (T1) at Frankfurt/Main Airport. In several areas of the baggage handling system, a "WETEC control technology" from the 1970s is still in use. Due to the advanced age of the technical equipment and due to contamination by pollutants caused by asbestos-containing fire protection in the electrical system (cable system), there is an urgent need for refurbishment. The availability of spare parts is no longer guaranteed and the number of experts with specialist knowledge in the field of WETEC is continuously decreasing, which is making maintenance increasingly difficult. In addition, flexibility to adapt the systems as a result of the complexity and the age of the systems is severely limited. The scope of the project includes 19 systems with approximately 1,540 drives. For all systems, initially the creation of project phase 1 to 3 (establishment of requirements, preliminary planning and design planning) is intended.
