TENDER DESCRIPTION

The contracting authority, Nerra GmbH, is developing on the site of the former repair works of Deutsche Bahn (DB) in Duisburg-Wedau Nord the approximately 26 ha Technology Quarter Wedau (TQW). On the premises, a future-oriented business, technology and innovation location is to be created. Deutsche Bahn operated the repair works together with the Duisburg-Wedau marshalling yard from 1914 to 2004. Since the cessation of rail operations, substantial parts of the site have remained unused. The property still has the so-called Richthalle with a floor area of approximately 38,500 m² (3.85 ha). The contracting authority is currently pursuing the demolition of the hall facility. It is still checking whether certain hall segments can be retained in part. Prerequisites for the development of the site are the demolition of the Richthalle, the clearing of the areas, and orderly soil management including remediation of contaminated sites and remediation of hazardous substances.
