The Magdeburg Christmas Market is one of the most traditional and largest Christmas markets in Saxony-Anhalt. It takes place every year on the Alten Markt and in the surrounding streets in the heart of the state capital, attracting large numbers of visitors with its diverse offering and special atmosphere. The origins of the Magdeburg Christmas Market date back to the late Middle Ages. Today, it presents itself as a modern market with traditional elements and is an integral part of the pre-Christmas culture in the region. A special highlight is the Historical Kaiser Otto Palatinate (Kaiser Otto Pfalz) next to the Alten Rathaus, which takes visitors back to times past with medieval stalls, craftsmen and artists. Especially for children, the market offers numerous attractions such as a craft house, a fairytale alley with reenacted stories and a Santa Claus apartment.
