TENDER DESCRIPTION

The subject of this procurement is the EU-wide award of the necessary steel construction works for the new construction of the arch structure of the Horizon observatory on Halde Hoheward in Herten. The Horizon observatory is used for astronomical observation and should enable visitors to orient themselves based on the movements of the sky. The objective of the measure is to rebuild the structure in the same dimension as the predecessor structure by adding two additional supports and fabricating the pipe arch structure from pipes hot-formed at the factory, which are to be mounted on site using pipe flange connections. In this context, for the two main arches the existing foundations of the old structure will be reused; for the two additional supports, new foundations will be created on site.
