TENDER DESCRIPTION
An industry dialogue and a market consultation have shown that, for the sub-area of the local authority, no efficient gigabit infrastructure offering corresponding telecommunications services is currently available on an area-wide basis in accordance with the objectives of the Gigabit Framework Policy 2.0 and will be available in the next few years. The local authority has therefore applied for and received funding for an area-wide gigabit expansion—relating to the undersupplied sub-area under the economic viability gap model—under the directive “Funding to support the gigabit expansion of telecommunications networks in the Federal Republic of Germany - Gigabit Directive of the Federal Government 2.0 (Gigabit-RL 2.0)” of 31 March 2023 as amended by the amendment dated 13.01.2025 (“Gigabit Directive 2.0”). The funding made available in this funding programme under the economic viability gap model (hereinafter: funds) is intended to be passed on by local authorities to telecommunications undertakings, within the meaning of EU state aid law, as an investment cost grant for the construction and operation of gigabit networks.
