I.1 Rationale and background I.1.1 Need for a vision document for future youth heritage Within the territory of the City of Kortrijk, many youth organisations are active. Free accommodation is a core principle within the City’s policy. However, the infrastructure is in many cases in poor condition. In addition, the objectives of climate-neutral 2050 and rising construction costs pose an extra challenge for the City’s property heritage. This provided the impetus for developing an ambitious vision regarding future investment projects for youth infrastructure. Within this, lines of action were set out for better utilisation of premises, circular use of materials, modularity and adaptability of the buildings, user-friendliness and the simplicity of techniques,.. These key lines of action have been developed in a vision document that is used as a guide when developing future projects. This vision document is used as the basis for these construction projects.
