TENDER DESCRIPTION

The South Savo Welfare Area, Eloisa, procures for the Savonlinna unit for ophthalmic surgical use one (1) surgical microscope, and as an option one (1) surgical microscope for the welfare area. The procured entity includes the delivery of the device, installation service and commissioning; usage and maintenance training, and possible services supporting use (repairs and maintenance services for the devices); device-specific accessories and spare parts essential for use of the device, as well as the options presented in the tender request documents. The operations of the Ophthalmology unit are divided into outpatient clinic and research activities, as well as day-surgery operative procedures. Cataract surgery is performed in the eye unit throughout the year. On an annual basis, about 800 - 1,000 operations are performed. The unit also trains new cataract surgeons. As new cataract surgeons are trained in the unit, the procured microscope must be suitable for teaching purposes.
