TENDER DESCRIPTION

Due to extensive construction works planned for the Moritzburg property within the framework of a special investment programme financed by the Federal Government and the State, which will last around 3-4 years, after careful consideration and discussion it was decided to completely clear the museum premises at Moritzburg, meaning to move virtually all works of art and all offices and everything related equipment into a temporary facility. At the end of the construction-related interim period 2031/32, the new central depot, to be completed and ready for occupation as a collection centre of the Cultural Foundation of Saxony-Anhalt, is to be finished and ready for occupation. This means that in 2031/32 the relocation out of the interim facility will be due, with part of the move—together with the majority of the objects and staff and the works belonging to the permanent exhibition—returning to Moritzburg. As an interim site, a part of the vacant department store complex formerly used by Galeria Kaufhof was found directly at the city’s central market square of Halle (Saale).
