TENDER DESCRIPTION
The Diseases on the Map project implemented by the Finnish Equine Research Centre and Savonia University of Applied Sciences will begin sampling in autumn 2026 to identify contagious diseases in horses (target start 1.10.2026). The project has received EU rural development funding from the Häme ELY Centre, whose duties are currently managed by the Southeast Finland Regional Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment. Veterinarians treating horses will take samples in suspected disease cases and send them to the laboratory for analysis of the suspected pathogens. The project covers 50% and the horse owner covers 50% of the analysis costs. The project continues until 30.6.2028. The exact number of samples cannot be estimated, but we encourage horse owners to take samples significantly more actively than currently. The contracting authority has no obligation to purchase a set quantity; services will be ordered as needed. The procurement procedure will result in a framework agreement for the period 1.10.2026 - 30.4.2028. Samples will be taken during the period 1.11.2026 - 30.4.2028.
