Cross-border project for sustainable improvement of the ecological and hydrological status of the Rögnitz - Lot 2 Feasibility study The Rögnitz is located in the east of the state of Lower Saxony and in the west of the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Over a length of around 15 km, the Rögnitz forms the border between the states of Lower Saxony and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern between Gudow and Woosmer. The border runs through the middle of the water body. The Rögnitz is a tributary of the Sude and belongs to the Elbe river basin. In both Lower Saxony and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Rögnitz is a body of water that is subject to reporting obligations under the implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive (WFD). Its water body ROEG-0300 comprises a stretch of flowing water of 54 km. The water body is characterised as a lowland river shaped by sand and clay (LAWA type 15) and is classified as "natural".
