Cross-border project for the sustainable improvement of the ecological and hydrological status of the Rögnitz – Lot 1 Surveying The Rögnitz is located in the east of the state of Lower Saxony and in the west of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Over a length of around 15 km, the Rögnitz forms the state boundary between the states of Lower Saxony and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania between Gudow and Woosmer. The boundary runs through the middle of the water body. The Rögnitz is a tributary of the Sude and belongs to the Elbe river basin. Both in Lower Saxony and in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the Rögnitz is a water body that is subject to reporting under the EC Water Framework Directive (WRRL). Its water body ROEG-0300 comprises a flowing water section of 54 km. The water body is characterized as a lowland river shaped by sand and clay (LAWA type 15) and is classified as “natural”. Accordingly, it is necessary to achieve good ecological and chemical status. In addition, the Rögnitz is designated as spawning and rearing habitat and as a migratory fish backdrop.
