TENDER DESCRIPTION

At the German Federal Institute of Hydrology (BfG), a new gas chromatography system with a mass spectrometric detector (triple quadrupole) and atmospheric pressure ionisation is to be procured. The decisive factor for the measurement system to be procured is the use of atmospheric pressure ionisation (APCI), as this allows soft ionisation. The BfG must provide analytical solutions for numerous new pollutants, since these substances are governed by the Water Framework Directive, the Surface Waters Ordinance, or by further developments of HABAB and GÜBAK, or will be governed in the future. The newly to be procured analytical system is intended to close this gap, as atmospheric pressure ionisation primarily produces molecular ions, resulting in significantly less fragmentation of the substances to be analysed. As a result, fragmentation-sensitive analytes, such as pyrethroids and polyhalogenated hydrocarbons, can be detected and determined quantitatively. With less fragmentation, the determination of other substances can also benefit, since the analytical determination is considerably more reliable due to the larger precursor masses.
