TENDER DESCRIPTION
As part of the project “Construction of large-scale thermal energy storage and its hydraulic integration into the district heating distribution system at the HKW West site” (overall project WSPW) of Stadtwerke Karlsruhe, a thermal energy storage system is to be implemented to ensure sustainable, future-proof and secure heat supply. The process engineering task of the planned two-zone thermal energy storage system is to consist in storing and supplying thermal energy as required within the district heating system. The heat storage system, designed as pressureless equipment, shall enable the separate intake and discharge of heat at different temperature levels by creating a thermal stratification. By hydraulically decoupled integration into the district heating network via a separate flow and return system, the heat storage system shall contribute to compensating load fluctuations and to time decoupling of heat generation and heat consumption. Under this procurement, functional flow and return pumps as well as mixing (make-up) pumps—including all components required for proper operation—within the specified delivery limits shall be planned, manufactured and delivered.
