TENDER DESCRIPTION

Against the background of a forecast decline in water availability due to climate change and the brown coal phase-out, it is advisable to exploit all possibilities for the optimal use of the available water supply in Lusatia. The numerous ponds and pond groups used by inland fisheries (pond management) in the catchment area of the Spree and the Schwarze Elster, with approximately 70 million m³ of water volume, constitute a relevant water user. As part of their management, these are regularly filled in spring and drained in autumn. The additional water demand caused by evaporation and infiltration as well as the fishery economically necessary throughput volume during the management period are covered from the flowing wave of the receiving water body. Thus, pond managements are an integral part of the water management of the Spree and the Schwarze Elster. Moreover, pond managements represent an essential economic factor in the region and have a very high cultural-historical significance with a tradition of 750 years.
