TENDER DESCRIPTION

The subject of the competition is a design for a new-build, multi-purpose municipal building on Republic Square in Tachov. The new building will replace the existing House of Groceries (Dům potravin), whose technical condition, spatial/layout solution and architectural quality no longer meet current requirements and will be demolished. The aim of the competition is to find a high-quality, contemporary, realistic architectural concept that will have social and cultural value, bring new impetus to the city centre, strengthen its attractiveness, contribute to the cultivation of the space, and naturally link to the character of the historical environment of the municipal monument reservation. The design should naturally complement the urban structure of the historic core and, in a cultivated manner, follow the character of the place. The building should be confident yet humble, express present-day realities in its language, while at the same time respecting the municipal monument reservation that it enters, and create a natural part of the cultural memory layer of Tachov.
