Überseestadt is one of the districts of Bremen with exceptionally high population dynamics. In the former port and industrial area, new residential quarters continue to be developed, particularly for young families. Accordingly, the need for school places continues to rise steadily. In this regard, the dynamics within the district coincide with similarly strong growth across the entire district of Walle. For this reason, the city of Bremen has already provided for additional schools within the district. In the school year 2020/2021, the primary school Überseestadt took in children for the first time in the Kellogg-Areal site. However, there is no permanent building for the secondary school Überseestadt within the required area, and as a result of the previous political weighing and decision-making process, the city of Bremen is unable to provide municipal land for self-realization.
