TENDER DESCRIPTION

The scope of services covers comprehensive general renovation of two listed existing buildings (former clinics) with planning and conversion into new administrative and laboratory spaces for the Max Planck Institute for Geoanthropology in Jena. On the plot 105 / Lessingstraße 1 there is the former urology department with a listed portion dating from 1914 and an extension dating from 1991. On the plot 102/5 / Lessingstraße 2 there is the former ENT department (ear, nose and throat) dating from 1928. The buildings are each 4 storeys high with an additional partially daylit basement floor and an undeveloped gable-storey. The buildings and the garden facilities are under heritage protection; therefore close coordination with the State Office for Heritage Conservation (Landesamt für Denkmalpflege) and/or the lower heritage protection authority (untere Denkmalschutzbehörde) is required. The institute building will consist mainly of office areas and ancillary office areas. In addition, seminar rooms, a laboratory area with storage areas, server rooms and a Decision Theatre are planned.
