TENDER DESCRIPTION

The scope of services concerns the extensive general refurbishment of two listed existing buildings (former hospitals), including planning and conversion into new administrative and laboratory rooms for the Max Planck Institute for Geoanthropology in Jena. On the plot no. 105 / Lessingstraße 1 there is the former urology department with a listed part dating from 1914 and an extension dating from 1991. On the plot no. 102/5 / Lessingstraße 2 there is the former ENT (ear, nose and throat) department dating from 1928. The buildings are each four storeys high with an additional partially daylit basement storey as well as an attic storey that is not converted. The buildings and the garden facility are subject to heritage protection; therefore close coordination with the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments (Landesamt für Denkmalpflege) or the responsible lower heritage protection authority (untere Denkmalschutzbehörde) is required. The institute building will consist mainly of office spaces and ancillary office areas.
