TENDER DESCRIPTION

The scope of services concerns the extensive comprehensive refurbishment of two listed existing buildings (former hospitals), including planning and conversion into new administrative and laboratory rooms for the Max Planck Institute for Geoanthropology in Jena. On the plot of land 105 / Lessingstraße 1 there is the former urology facility with a listed part from 1914 and an extension from 1991. On the plot of land 102/5 / Lessingstraße 2 there is the former ENT (ear, nose and throat) department from the year of construction 1928. The buildings are each 4-storey, with an additional partially daylighted basement storey as well as an attic storey that has not been fitted out. The buildings and the garden facility are subject to heritage protection; therefore close coordination with the State Office for Monument Preservation (Landesamt für Denkmalpflege) or the lower heritage authority (untere Denkmalschutzbehörde) is required. The institute building will consist mainly of office space and ancillary office areas.
